This trip has been full of surprises. Today’s surprise was Malta. I had been exposed to Maltese people in my younger years as an apprentice working in a multi-cultural workplace in Sydney, however, had never taken the opportunity to understand more about the people.
I had also been aware of the story of Paul the Apostle from the New Testament of the Bible. For those not familiar with his story, Paul was one of the major players in the first century responsible for carrying Christianity across Europe through several journeys around the Mediterranean; Turkey, Macedonia, Greece and eventually Rome.
Back in the day, several journeys were done using sailing vessels, however, on his last trip heading to Rome to stand before Caesar, became shipwrecked at the island on Malta. (Find the story in the Bible in Acts 27:39-44 & 28:1)
So when going to Malta, one of the key things I wanted to see was St Paul’s bay, you will see that in the picture below with the rock and landmark.
A bit of early research to our visit found Peppin Transport who were fantastic and gave us a custom tour of the Island.
As we are about to leave Valetta, find below some pictures of our day out around Malta with Charlie our driver, who lived in Australia and came back to Malta.
More will be posted when back on land.
