After Mr. Engineer tweaking a few dials, a few hand waves and shaking the Captain’s hand, it was time to leave Frankfurt and fly to Rome.
It is amazing how reassuring a handshake is when you’re sitting on a plane, and the Captain shakes the hand of the man in the fluro jacket who’s just had his head under the dashboard was the assurance it was OK to go.
So on to Rome over the Alps and down the coast. Wow, great views from the air.
I knew but didn’t really appreciate how rural Italy is, from the air it seems that way. Our pilot made the trip more interesting by doing several tight turns, hammering on the acceleration, then dropping around 10,000 feet to a landing. Must have been have ex-Macchi test pilot :-). Nothing like getting in 20 minutes early.
All our Bags arrived safely from Hanoi and found our driver and off to Rome.
Arrived at Rome, settled in, then out for Dinner.
I didn’t appreciate how close our accommodation is to St Peters Basilica, so off for a Cook’s tour and find a restaurant for dinner.
The pictures of Rome are some of the spots we found on our Sunday evening walk, St. Peter’s, the river and walking around.
